Eran Shookroon is a North African and Persian descent artist. He discovered his artistic practice in adulthood, around the age of 40. The encounter with art came through an everyday gesture: while signing a school form for his son with the mouse, he realized for the first time that such an ordinary tool could become a means of creation. That small act transformed a mundane moment into something suddenly enchanting, sparking a path where the simplicity of digital tools became expressive freedom.

From a young age, exposure to diverse cultures and a lively, stimulating family environment nurtured his sensitivity to detail and the subtleties of everyday life. These elements—his multicultural roots, memories, and life experiences—form the foundation of his artistic practice.
Shookroon’s approach arises from a personal urgency: the desire to translate a world shaped by music, memory, and reflection into visual form, while maintaining a strong focus on philosophical inquiry, form, and material presence.

Digital media became his natural means of expression. Working with minimal tools – a screen, a mouse, and a limited palette of colors,  he transforms simplicity into freedom. In his hands, the digital surface loses any technological coldness and becomes a sensitive territory where thought translates directly into gesture and light.

Philosophy remains a constant reference: his way of questioning images stems from the same impulse that once guided his inquiry into ideas. Music, however, drives his creative rhythm. Jazz, African rhythms, the voices of Chet Baker, Nina Simone, and James Brown fuel his imagination and translate into color, movement, and energy. In his works, sound becomes image, and rhythm takes visual form.

Shookroon’s works emerge from a spontaneous process where thought and gesture coincide. Digital space becomes a fluid territory, where color is built through rhythm and layering shapes. Faces, gestures, and fragments of memory surface in his images, evoking the passage of time and the presence of humanity.

His multicultural origins and the influence of Mediterranean aesthetics are evident in his works, giving them a personal and recognizable language. He is currently preparing the opening of his first gallery in Milan, a city that represents a new and different world from his previous experiences, capable of stimulating fresh discoveries and dialogue. For him, each exhibition is not just a milestone but a concrete opportunity to engage with viewers while entering a new phase of his research.
